Dismissed charges-2017

Hofmeister was charged and booked into Oklahoma County jail November 4, 2016, on charges of conspiracy and accepting illegal campaign contributions, however all charges were dismissed August 1, 2017. Along with Hofmeister, prosecutors had charged Stephanie Dawn Milligan, Steven Crawford, Lela Odom and Fount Holland with four counts for accepting contributions in excess of the maximum amount, accepting corporate contributions and two counts of conspiracy. District Attorney David Prater alleged that the money garnered from the illegal dark group contributions were used in a smear campaign against former superintendent Janet Barresi. Hofmeister entered a plea of not guilty. On August 1, 2017, Prater dismissed all charges against Hofmeister and the other defendants. "I knew I was innocent and that I had conducted myself appropriately, and I am happy that this day has come," Hofmeister said at a news conference on the day the charges were dropped.
